To inspire you, we’re paying a visit to this architect-designed home in the fashionable resort town of Noosa on Australia’s Sunshine Coast. A masterclass in calm and chic open-plan living, it cleverly uses furniture to create two separate yet connected zones. These include a sitting area, clearly defined by an INVERNESS rug, that incorporates the handsome UDAIPUR II sofa and matching MONTREAL armchairs, which orbit around a two-volume PAROS coffee table. The space is then filled out with twin NAGOYA side tables and a glamorous TAIF ceiling lamp. Next, a chic dining area, demarcated in a similar fashion by a graphic QUITO rug, features a marble-topped ARENDAL table and eight elegantly upholstered MISOOL dining chairs.
Circumventing these two zones and fulfilling other functions are further satellite arrangements of furniture. To one side, a sleek NEW YORK console and matching bench, topped with the cut-glass bulb of the TRIESTE table lamp, provide an impromptu workstation for activities such as homework or letter writing, while elsewhere an elegant SANTORINI sideboard and sculptural ODESSA bookcase provide storage and display space.
To pull the whole look together, an elegant palette rich in various wood finishes and sumptuous fabrics ensures a consistent, cohesive feel. Organic colours, ranging from pristine while and soft cream to taupe, are punctuated by elements of dark brown or black, while highlights of brushed brass and pops of graphic prints add warmth and vibrancy to the scheme. Finally, a few houseplants are incorporated to connect the different areas to each other and the outdoors without compromising on the streamlined aesthetic.
